How to read a candlestick chart
On a candlestick chart, each candle shows a single period, such as one hour or one day.
Timeframes: 15m, 1H, 4H, 1D, 1W
A timeframe is the length of time a single candle covers on a chart: 15m is fifteen minutes, 1H one hour, 4H four hours, 1D one day and 1W one week.
Why the candle close matters
A candle is not final until its timeframe is over.
Multi-timeframe analysis
Multi-timeframe analysis means looking at the same chart on more than one timeframe.
When timeframes seem to disagree
Price can be falling on the 1H chart while the rising structure holds on the 1D chart.
